Monsignor Breslin Council 14995 Launches Vocational Essay Contest
Council 14995 made a decision in June of 2010 to support a Vocational Essay contest in the St. Charles School.  The scope of the project was enlarged to encompass five parishes in 2011, and the entire Dayton Deanery starting in 2013.  The basic thought was that our youth today have little opportunity to think about a religious vocation as a career.  The more we introduce to our youth the possibility of a religious vocation as a career, the better chance we have of increasing the number of religious vocations in the future.  The contest is available to all students who attend the local Catholic schools from the fourth through the eighth grades.  The final essays are due December 1st and are judged based on criteria given to the students in the essay guideline.  The first, second, and third-place winners in each grade are given a certificate.  The certificates are given out during Catholic Schools week in late January or early February.
The topic for the 2020 essay contest was:
"HOW WILL PRAYER HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHAT IS POSSIBLE IN MY LIFE AND LEAD ME TOWARDS A RELIGIOUS VOCATION."
The certificates for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each grade at each participating school will be distributed to each school in January.
